Opposition to the proposal to amend the Compulsory Military Service Law

📝 Proposal text
All citizens of the country are required to contribute through military service, national service, or volunteering. The burden must be shared equally by all. Those who do not share the burden will be stripped of their citizenship rights.

- + Lack of equality turns a "people's army" into a "mercenary army," therefore one sector should not be forcibly conscripted (under threat of criminal punishment for draft evaders). A "people's army" means an army of the entire nation, including all sectors and minorities living in the State of Israel. There is a real blow to national security in reducing the number of people who are drafted by law.
⚠️ Against (1)
- − Essential/combat service will receive high compensation and longer service. The service of rear-echelon soldiers will effectively be shortened to two years (instead of 32 months today). Those who serve in combat roles will have a longer service period, up to two years and eight months, and they will receive additional compensation, up to an amount of about NIS 6,000, similar to the minimum wage in the economy.
