📝 Proposal text
What needs to be changed: An unequivocal preference in benefits for people who served in the army:
First grant after completing army service (combat service): Free land allocation in priority areas (including a land development grant)
Second grant: Mortgage clearance after completing reserve duty / for soldiers who were injured or killed during military service. Providing a significant mortgage subsidy for the interim until the end of reserve duty, lower than the amount of rent in the area.
Cancellation of grants: Obligation to live in the area at least until the end of reserve duty
Goal of the change: Encouraging all sectors to enlist, equality in the burden, encouraging integration among sectors.
✅ For (1)
- + Drafting more citizens gives the army more operational freedom. For draft evaders, the threat of criminal proceedings exists. People who did not participate in the army or national service (the Arab sector, Haredi families with many children) receive similar, if not higher, benefits.
⚠️ Against (1)
- − Differentiating Israeli citizens into type A/B
